Freedom Summer Films is a series that aims to explore the humanity and the creativity of the many struggles against imperialism, colonialism, capitalism at home and abroad, and we hope to leave inspired for a future of liberation through community and love.  We know that cultural expression is one of the most powerful forms of political education, and we hope you join us for these collective viewings!

In this biographical film, we follow the story of Carlos Marighella, a Brazilian Marxist Leninist revolutionary and guerrilla fighter, who is most known for writing the Minimanual of the Urban Guerilla. Marighella faced, on the one hand, a violent military dictatorship. On the other, an intimidated left. Surrounded by guerrillas 30 years younger and willing to act, the revolutionary leader chose action.

Year: 2019  | Director: Wagner Moura | Duration: 2h 39m minutes
