This weekend we will meet among immigrants residing in New York and nearby areas to talk about the struggles of indigenous peoples and popular sectors for the defense of territory and communities.
“The people’s struggle is against the high cost of living that overwhelms the vast majority of Guatemalans and that due to the lack of opportunities, education, health, work, and due to the violence and terrible corruption of the successive governments in office, they are forced to emigrate to the north, as an alternative of survival and life for themselves and their families.
It is also for the defense of the human rights of all people, inside and outside of Guatemala, especially migrants living in the United States. This migrant population is estimated at around three million adults, children and the elderly, Mayans, Mestizos, Xincas and Garífunas.
This is the fight for the defense of mother earth, the territory, the life of the communities, the fight for a dignified life, to achieve Good Living for all Guatemalans.”

Este fin de semana nos encontraremos entre migrantes residentes en Nueva York y áreas cercanas para conversar acerca de las luchas de los pueblos originarios y los sectores populares por la defensa del territorio y de las comunidades.
“La lucha del pueblo es contra el alto costo de la vida que agobia a la gran mayoría de guatemaltecxs y que ante la falta de oportunidades, de educación, salud, trabajo, y por la violencia y terrible corrupción de los sucesivos gobiernos de turno, se ven forzados a emigrar al norte, como alternativa de sobrevivencia y vida para ellos y sus familias.
También es por la defensa de los derechos humanos de todas las personas, dentro y fuera de Guatemala, especialmente de los migrantes que viven en los Estados Unidos. Esta población migrante se estima en alrededor de tres millones de personas adultas, niñez y ancianxs, mayas, mestizxs, xincas y garífunas.Esta es la lucha por la defensa de la madre tierra, del territorio, de la vida de las comunidades, la lucha por una vida digna, por alcanzar el Buen Vivir para todas, todes y todos los guatemaltecos.”
