The Center for Language Justice and the People’s Forum are offering beginner-level courses to folks who have little to no prior knowledge of Spanish/Arabic. Through weekly social justice themes, and using a communicative and integrated skills approach, participants will improve their listening, speaking, reading, and writing of the target language. Special focus will be given to learning vocabulary and community organizing terminology relevant to contemporary social movements in the U.S. and Latin America.

The course contribution is $300 (Sliding-scale option available*). This includes all course materials.

*A sliding-scale payment plan and scholarships are available for those accepted who cannot afford the full contribution. Priority will be given to heritage speakers of Spanish/Arabic, Black/Native/Latinx/Arab/people of color, working class, long-term NYC residents, women, trans, gender non-confirming folks and/or those directly working with Spanish- or Arabic-speaking immigrant/refugee communities.

Please apply below. Only selected participants will be contacted by the instructor.
