The Center for Language Justice and the People’s Forum are offering high beginner-level Spanish to folks who have already completed a semester-long beginner course (once selected, you will be sent a placement test to make sure this is the right level for you). Through weekly social justice themes, and using a communicative and integrated skills approach, participants will improve their listening, speaking, reading, and writing of the target language. Special focus will be given to learning vocabulary and community organizing terminology relevant to contemporary social movements in the U.S. and Latin America.
*A sliding-scale payment plan and scholarships are available for those accepted who cannot afford the full contribution. Priority will be given to heritage speakers of Spanish/Arabic, Black/Native/Latinx/Arab/people of color, working class, long-term NYC residents, women, trans, gender non-confirming folks and/or those directly working with Spanish- or Arabic-speaking immigrant/refugee communities.
