The deadline for this course has already passed. However, there is good news – we have a load of open courses this summer, check them out here! We also have our political education platform, where resources from Revolutionary Summer School will be posted, check it out here.
WHAT
Revolutionary Summer School @ TPF is a hybrid* summer program for organizers, visionaries and people in resistance to oppression. In this introductory-level program, students will develop their methodology to analyze the past and present, build capacity for organizing struggle through studying examples of revolutionary processes around the world, and expand their vision for a transformed future. It’s a chance to meet new friends and comrades, study, discuss, debate, and then put theory into practice!
This program is based on the methodology of popular and political education, and on the politics of working-class internationalism.

*For those in the New York area, this program will be held in-person. We encourage everyone who can’t be physically present to sign up for the virtual option.
WHY
In the world we live in today, the majority of education we receive is created by the oppressors. The ideology we are fed in most schools and institutions is ruling class ideology, and this does not further our struggle or serve the needs of the working-class. We know that we need political education for the survival of our people. The realities exposed in the global pandemic made clear that we need political education to arm our people for class struggle. We need political education for liberation!
We intend for this program to provide a structured path of study to engage with revolutionary theory and to organize in working-class movements. This is an introductory course that we hope will inspire people to continue their studies as lifelong students of revolution, and we encourage participants to share the resources and replicate their knowledge as widely as possible with their communities.
WHO
We ask specifically for applications from those who are involved in, or seeking to become involved in, an organization in struggle. Enrolled participants will be part of a cohort and are encouraged to not only make connections with their fellow participants, but also further discuss and debate with each other throughout the program. This is a large time commitment, and we ask you to apply only if you feel that you are able to attend multiple sessions a week and dedicate time to prepare and reflect on each session.
Class instructors are experienced popular educators with practice in political education for people’s organizations. We also encourage participants to attend TPF’s lectures with public intellectuals and movement leaders.
For those who are interested but unable to attend the class schedule, we have many educational sessions that are open to the public! Check out the Summer of Study calendar and sign up for what you can attend. We will also provide resources for self study and an archive of sessions that are open to the general public on our resource platform.
WHEN
Required classes are held every Saturday from July – August, 3-6 PM. Participants will also be organized into smaller cohorts that are expected to meet once a week outside of class, and each group can decide the time and day that works best for them.
Complementary sessions are held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6:30-8 PM EST. Participants are asked to participate in a minimum of 4 complementary sessions, but are encouraged to attend as many as possible.
For those attending class in person, we will have a private film screening every Saturday after class!
An orientation call with all participants will be held on July 12 from 6:30-8 PM. This will be an opportunity to meet the cohort of students and ask any questions you may have about the program.
