Join us for a night of short documentary films and a panel discussion honoring Prakash Churaman, a 22-year-old Guyanese immigrant from Queens fighting a life sentence for a crime he did not commit.
Prakash was coerced into a false confession by NYPD at the age of 15, and incarcerated at Rikers for years awaiting a fair trial. Though his original conviction was overturned, he is set to have another trial in 2022, unless Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz drops all charges against him.
Help us build this growing movement to free Prakash Churaman! All of the proceeds from this event will go directly to Prakash and his family for stable housing and living expenses, as he remains on house arrest and is barred from employment.
Panelists:
Jacob Cohen, The Free Prakash Alliance
Jon McFarlane, VOCAL-NY
Sherry Padilla, Desis Rising Up & Moving (DRUM)
Shaniqua Pippen, The Party for Socialism and Liberation
