PROGRAM

-Greeting Card Writing Station for Incarcerated Members of the Community

-Opening Singalong with NYS Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival’s Songs in the Key of Resistance

-Opening Welcome Address by Shaykh Abdur Rashid of Mukashfi Institute of America – MIA, based in Brooklyn, NY, which is a branch of the Mukashfi Qadiriyya Sufi Order in Sudan. The Shaykh studied 5 years in Sudan and received permission to teach Islam and its inner sciences in America. He is a “son of New York” as his journey has taken him full circle through the Black Panther Party in his youth, the Nation of Islam, the community of Imam Warith D. Muhammad, living in Medina Munawara, to joining a Sufi order in Sudan and returning to community activism in New York City. His specialty is interfaith dialogue and purification of the heart.

-Spoken Word Performances by Zainab Mabizari of the Performing Arts Mosaic. Zainab is an Algerian American Texan medical student, poet, storyteller and coffee shop enthusiast. Currently Zainab is completing her MS in Narrative Medicine at Columbia University. As a poet she has performed across the country and is well known for her TED talk “As I Lay Dying.” Zainab is also a member of the Golden Humanism Honor Society and key member of the Performing Arts Mosaic team. Don’t miss what could be her last performance in NYC !!

-Story-sharing with Adama Bah and her work with Pan-African Community Development Initiative
