As part of Israel’s latest genocidal campaign against Gazans, Israel has amped up this propaganda war by using AI, parroting unverified claims about Hamas, and even staging attacks.
Capitalist media, led by the United States, is not only magnifying Israeli propaganda, but actively contributing to creating misinformation. As people living in the U.S., it is more important now than ever to understand how imperialist media has criminalized Palestinians and their right to liberation and manufactured consent for the US sponsored genocide of the Palestinian people.
This is nothing new. Since Israel’s formation, the Zionist entity has used various tactics to influence public opinion and garner support for the occupation—including hasbara fellowships, paying social media influencers, launching a national campaign to conflate Zionism with antisemitism, running smear campaigns against pro-Palestinian journalists, targeting Palestinian journalists, cutting electricity, and bombing Palestinian media sites.
The session will provide context on Israeli/U.S. propaganda, examine recent tactics, and provide ways to navigate the media and direct your communities to better sources.
