Join Lina Barkawi (@linasthobe) and Amanne Sharif (@minamanne) from Tatreez Talk (@tatreeztalk) for a live discussion on Palestinian embroidery. Along with fellow Palestinian Tatreez artists Samar Dahleh (@tatreez.w.samoor), Sam Sundos (@sabri), Zaynab Alsharif (@kanaancollective), and Nada Esmaeel (@nadasink), they’ll discuss ‘Why Tatreez Matters’ where they’ll dive into the depths of why Tatreez is a lifeline for Palestinians.
Why Tatreez Matters: Memory, Grief, and Liberation
Passed down through generations, this Palestinian embroidery tradition holds within it the memory of villages erased, the love of our elders, and the stories of survival and joy that continue to shape who we are today.
As Palestinians navigate generational loss, ongoing displacement, and a global reckoning with our identity, tatreez matters now more than ever. In a moment when everything feels at risk, the act of stitching becomes both resistance and remembrance.
This panel brings together artists, organizers, and community-builders who are each reclaiming tatreez in their own way. Together, we’ll reflect on what it means to hold onto tradition while imagining new futures—thread by thread.
