¡Bienvenides! Welcome to Spanish for Social Justice!
Algarabía Language Co-op is excited to announce that we are offering virtual Spanish classes this fall!
Algarabía Language Co-op offers Spanish for Social Justice courses in partnership with The People’s Forum. We offer classes at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels of fluency for those interested in topics related to social justice, politics, and culture. Through weekly social justice themes and using a communicative and popular education approach, participants will improve their Spanish skills and critically engage with various cultural productions centered around the lived experiences of working-class people of Indigenous and African descent on the continent. These courses are designed for folks at different levels of fluency in their productive (speaking, writing) and receptive (listening and reading) skills. Special focus will be given to learning vocabulary and community organizing terminology relevant to contemporary social movements in New York City (Lenapehoking), one of the largest and most diverse Spanish-speaking cities in the world, as well as the rest of Turtle Island and Abya Yala.
