Second 🌶 RED HOT PARTY of the summer: SWANA BEATS!! This time we are celebrating the sounds and beats of the Southwest Asian, Middle East, and North African (SWANA) diaspora. Invite your friends and come dance with DJ Cardamami and Shi Shi! Dance with us on July 22, 9pm-12am. Come early, stay late!

DJ Cardamami is a Brooklyn based DJ. They draw inspiration from their Afro-Caribbean & South Asian roots. They are the co-host of Yalla Yeehaw, a party featuring Arab pop, Bhangra, & other Southwest Asian, North African, & South Asian sounds and the host of Spicy Trax, a monthly radio show for Playground Radio.

Shi Shi is a Brooklyn based DJ and educator. She is the co-founder of the DJ workshop and skill-sharing platform We Got Next (@wegotnextpdx) and hosts a radio show on Newtown Radio, which brings on guests from all over & youth artists from Building Beats. She is motivated by the intersection of storytelling, youth/personal advocacy, media, and art and her blends feature a mix of global dance music including house, soul, disco, & more.

It’s summer, and we are celebrating our victories and resilience with a Red Hot Summer here at The People’s Forum – coming together from all corners of the city to dance, regain strength, and release in community. Save the dates (June 24, July 22, and August 19) and stay tuned for our monthly Red Hot Summer party from afro beats to reggaeton to Arab sounds, featuring some of New York City’s hottest and unique DJs. Suggested donation $10 to sustain our grassroots efforts, and drinks available night of at The People’s Cafe.

Everyone is welcome, see you on the dance floor! Proof of vaccination is required for all in-person events.
