About Red Books Day:

Every year, thousands of people across the world commemorate Red Books Day to stand in solidarity with left books, their authors, and the people’s movements they ushered forward. While Red Books Day takes place on the publication day of the Communist Manifesto, February 21 also marks the sixtieth anniversary of Malcolm X’s assassination. As we commemorate 100 years of his life in 2025, we remember the legacy he leaves behind for organizers across the world—a legacy cut short by those who feared his message of resistance and revolution.

Join us Feb. 21 from 4pm to 9pm for an evening to commemorate Malcolm X’s life, and to stand in defense of revolutionary voices, amplifying them even more!

All Evening | Screen Printing + Book Swap + Communal Reading

Bring clothes or accessories to print on, but most importantly bring your books: books to swap with other revolutionary readers, or books you’re reading so you can discuss it with your comrades!

7–8PM | Reading Malcolm X

Celebrate the life and legacy of Malcolm X, and join us for a collective reading of the words of Malcolm X. TPF staff and community members will be reading, and we encourage you to bring your friends and spend an evening with revolutionary literature!

8–9PM | Cultural Perfomance

Did we mention it’s also Nina Simone’s birthday? Come by and celebrate the sounds of Black liberation and resistance through a tribute to Nina Simone.

P.S. We’ll have 15% off in-store purchases just for the evening, so there’s no better time to pick out your next red book. See you there!
