Mālama Mākua follows Native Hawaiian cultural practitioners, organizers, and families as they work to reclaim the sacred Mākua Valley after decades of U.S. military occupation. As the military’s lease approaches its expiration, the film chronicles a movement rooted in Indigenous sovereignty, environmental justice, and the restoration of ancestral relationships to the land through the practice of mālama ʻāina.
