Join us for an evening of fierce feminist insight to build collective power! Last month, the United Nations held its 70th session on the Commission on the Status of Women. Now, this month, which is also sexual assault awareness month, it’s time for the people’s response! The International Women’s Alliance and its member and partner organizations, Adolfina, Ain’t I am Woman?!, Gabriela NY and the Palestinian Feminist Collective, have been gathering in NYC to reflect and support one another since the close of the UN CSW 70. During the Violence Against Women Panel at CSW 70, so much was left out, and this leaves those oppressed under US, Zionist and Western imperialist colonialist policy hanging in the balance. We say reforms are not enough! Let’s address the root causes and hear from the people! Through short panel presentations and guided discussion, we name the imperialist violence against women in Palestine, the Philippines, and Puerto Rico and affirm our anti-colonial, anti-imperialist feminist power—responding to the UN’s CSW70 Violence Against Women Panel and more. A member from Ain’t I a Woman?! will also speak on the campaign to pass No More 24!, legislation to end an inhumane 24-hour work day in New York.

Be a part of co-creating an anti-colonial and life-affirming space for reflection, healing and community. Gathering to raise our consciousness is the first step forward to end gender-based violence, the effects of colonialism and displacement in our diasporas. Together we can envision liberatory ways forward!

In person: Engage in with our Zoom and in-person Q&A, check out each organization’s info and swag table, honor collective grief and remembrance of those lost to gender based violence through our community altar, and connect more to each other and each organization.

Bring something for our community altar/reflection area if you’d like. Can be a photo or a significant object to you that supports healing and commemoration.

Light snacks/refreshments provided

Zoom attendees: Make yourself comfortable at home or gather your friends for a watch party!
