For decades, the Vietnamese people defended their homeland from imperialist aggression from some of the largest powers – Japan, France and the U.S – emerging victorious through immense sacrifice and struggle. How did a small and oppressed people defeat imperialism? How did the battle unfold in the belly of the beast, inside the US empire? And what was the role of the international movement in solidarity and against war? We will investigate these questions and more as we study the world historic victory of the Vietnamese people in defeating far better-equipped colonial and imperial forces – and the lessons it teaches us for our ongoing struggle today!
