Algarabía Language Co-op is excited to announce that we are offering virtual Spanish classes this fall!
Spanish for Social Justice courses are offered by Algarabía Language Co-op in partnership with The People’s Forum. We offer courses at the BEGINNER, INTERMEDIATE, and ADVANCED levels of fluency to those interested in topics of social justice, politics, and culture. Through weekly social justice themes and using a communicative and popular education approach, participants will improve their Spanish skills and critically engage with various cultural productions centered around the lived experiences of working-class people of Indigenous and African descent on the continent. These courses are designed for folks at different levels of fluency in their productive (speaking, writing) and receptive (listening and reading) skills. Special focus will be given to learning vocabulary and community organizing terminology relevant to contemporary social movements in New York City (Lenapehoking), one of the largest and most diverse Spanish-speaking cities in the world, and the rest of Turtle Island and Abya Yala.
Due to the high demand for our language learning services, we are excited to announce the addition of new weekday classes to accommodate those unable to attend our regular weekend sessions. Starting February 3rd and running through April, we will offer courses on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Each weekday class series will total 24 hours, providing an excellent opportunity for learners to progress in their language skills at a convenient time during the week. We will offer both High Beginner and True Beginner levels, ensuring that students of various proficiency levels can join and benefit from the program.
