In her play “Nyanyi Sunyi Kembang-Kembang Genjer” (The Silent Song of Genjer Flowers), playwright Faiza Mardzoeki highlights the perspectives of women activists in the Indonesian women’s movement who were survivors of the communist purge and political prisoners in 1965. During this time, they suffered sexual violence and were stigmatized for decades as immoral women in Indonesia during the Suharto military dictatorship.
Join us on April 21 at 6 PM ET for a screening of The Silent Song of Genjer Flowers.
