Buddhism is well-known for its intricate philosophy and profound meditation practices. However, the Buddha also gave a tremendous amount of wise advice about living peacefully with others – advice not just to monastics, but also to kings and ministers, merchants and priests, craftspeople and laborers; advice about how to interact harmoniously with people of different backgrounds and conditions; about how to have mutually beneficial friendships and relationships; about how to live in the world as a beacon of harmony and goodwill in everything we do.
During this series of workshops, we will closely examine the Buddha’s teachings on communal harmony as preserved in the Pāli Suttas (the oldest extant collection of his words), and discuss how we can adapt and apply them to contemporary circumstances.
