Join us for a hybrid event as we commemorate that it has been one year since the coup détat against President Pedro Castillo in Peru. On December 7, 2022, the Peruvian Congress, under orders from powerful groups and transnational corporations, carried out a coup détat against the legitimate president Pedro Castillo. Castillo is the first political prisoner from the dictatorship of the Dina Boluarte government in Peru. Dina Boluarte is the head of the genocidal government which has responded with brutal repression during protests against the government and the coup détat. Dina Boluarte’s government has murdered more than 80 Peruvians, left thousands injured, hundreds detained or disappeared during the brutal repression. The government response has been physical attacks and extrajudicial executions of the indigenous communities.

Virtual conversation: Peru’s First Lady Lilian Paredes from Mexico where she is an asylee with her two children.

There will also be two of the Lawyers that represents President Castillo. International lawyer Guido Croxatto from Argentina and lawyer Wilfredo Robles from Peru.

Family members of the fatal victims of the dictatorship will also participate.
