The Nakba is the historic and continuing expulsion of Palestinians from their homes and lands in historic Palestine in 1948.  We will hear personal stories and testimonies from Palestinians whose families have been directly affected, from the past until today.  We will also screen the groundbreaking film—1948 Creation and Catastrophe—directed by Andy Trimlett and produced by Dr. Ahlam Muhtaseb, with rarely seen footage and remarkable interviews with both victims and Zionist perpetrators of the violent events of 1948. Dr. Muhtaseb is Professor of Media Studies and Director of the Center for Islamic & Middle Eastern Studies at California State University, San Bernadino. Andy Trimlett is a documentary filmmaker with a Master’s degree in Middle East Studies from the University of Washington.

Dr. Muhtaseb and director Andy Trimlett will join us for a Q & A after the film.
