
Every year, the Special Political and Decolonization (4th Committee) of the United Nations General Assembly considers issues covering decolonization-related items, including the case of Western Sahara. Once again, this year, petitioners from all around the world testify in support of the right to self-determination and independence of the Saharawi people, in accordance with General Assembly Resolution 1514(XV). Petitioners remind the world that in Africa one colony remains: Western Sahara, illegally occupied by Morocco.
In this context, a thematic conference will be held at The People’s Forum to shed light on the Sahrawi people’s struggle for self-determination and the lessons learned of liberation movements.

This conference will send a strong message: the Sahrawi people have the inalienable right to self-determination and independence; the natural resources of Western Sahara belong exclusively to the Sahrawi people; and all l Sahrawi political prisoners held arbitrarily in Moroccan prisons must be released.
