Join Hindus for Human Rights on March 14th for a free screening of Homebound, a film by director Neeraj Ghaywan, which was India’s submission to the Academy Awards, and was shortlisted in the best international film category.
Homebound centers the close friendship between two young men in a North Indian village at the start of the pandemic. It explores the ways they navigate life in contemporary India with their Dalit and Muslim identities. It’s a story of friendship, of course, but also of the ways in which the government continues to fail many of its citizens, and how our interpersonal bonds are the greatest tool of comfort and solidarity we have.
