Join us Friday, February 23rd at 6:30PM for a screening of “Gaza Fights for Freedom” (84 mins) at The People’s Forum.
“Gaza Fights for Freedom” (2019) is a documentary film that takes place during “Great March of Return” (March 30, 2018—December 27, 2019) protests. The documentary features historic footage of massacres of unarmed civilians, journalists, and medics by “Israeli” snipers during demonstrations and otherwise. Scenes include testimonies from victims including the family of Rouzan al-Najjar, internationally-acclaimed paramedic who was murdered by IOF forces on June 1, 2018 while volunteering as a medic during the 2018 Gaza border protests. Occupation forces originally denied Al-Najjar was a target (a psychological crime in and of itself) until B’Tselem, “Israeli human rights group” confirmed she was intentionally shot. The archival footage in “Gaza Fights For Freedom” is enough to charge the apartheid state with war crimes. The film is a captivating display of the heroic Palestinian resistance which has fought to keep Gaza’s heart beating whilst under constant siege. The Gaza film series aims to provide historical context to ongoing genocide with informative films from the region.
The film screening will be followed by a discussion. Masks are highly encouraged.
