October 4 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

As we approach a full year of Israel’s brutal war on Palestine and its more recent assaults in Lebanon, we gather at The People’s Forum this Friday night to mourn the dead and fight like hell for the living.

Riffing on the title of the novel by the late great Elias Khoury, Gate of the Sun is an evening of readings to raise money for two fundraisers providing direct aid to those impacted in Lebanon. The first, ARM, organizes alongside migrant workers, including women domestic workers living under the oppressive Kafala system. The second, Lebanese Solidarity Collective, delivers on the ground support to families rendered homeless by Zionist aggression.

No registration is required for this event. Donations to either fundraiser are on a sliding scale from $10-$30 and can be made at the door. Receipt of donation will be requested for entry.

FUNDRAISERS:

ARM Fundraiser:

Anti-Racism Movement (ARM) organizes alongside migrant workers, including women domestic workers, living and working under the oppressive Kafala system. We work with migrant-led collectives to support their community organizing, collective action, self-advocacy and activism against systemic racism and injustice.(Links to both fundraisers can be found in my bio for this who cannot attend)

Mutual aid for displaced families in Lebanon:

Lebanon Solidarity Collective is an independent network of people and grassroots organizers residing in Lebanon, committed to providing direct mutual aid and on-the-ground support.

We are not an NGO. This collective is built from long relationships anchored in trust, love, family and friend networks, collaborative action, crisis response efforts, practical and political responsibility, and care extended over many years across different communities in Lebanon.

Our collective believes in direct mutual aid to the most impacted parts of our beloved communities in a way that preserves peoples’ dignity and agency. We understand that war affects every person and form of life in Lebanon and we adamantly refuse any kind of discrimination. Since we were established in October 2023, our efforts have focused on supporting the basic livelihood of those displaced due to Zionist aggression.
