February 12 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Join me during Black History Month for a joyful, hands-on genealogy workshop designed for Black and Brown communities. Finding Your Ancestors is a two-hour workshop that guides participants in uncovering family stories and deepening ancestral connections through digital archives and oral history. Grounded in an understanding of archival racism and the systemic erasure of marginalized histories, this session empowers participants with accessible research strategies, organization tools, and interview techniques.

Led by Talaya’s culturally rooted and engaging teaching style, the workshop supports learners of all backgrounds, with no prior experience necessary. You’ll walk away with practical knowledge, a deeper understanding of your lineage, and tools to build a meaningful family tree.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How to navigate digital and physical archives
  • Techniques for conducting oral history interviews
  • Strategies for organizing and documenting your research
  • Insights into archival racism and cultural preservation

What to Bring:

  • A computer or internet-connected device
  • A journal or note-taking tool

Who Should Attend:
This workshop is open to Black and Brown individuals who are ready to explore their roots in a supportive and affirming environment.
