Young worker activist, Fan Shigang, who has spent the last decade in factories in the Pearl River Delta, will talk about the book Striking to Survive: Workers’ Resistance to Factory Relocations in China. The book compiles stories and interviews of Chinese factory workers, who are a major force in global capitalism as laborers in the “world’s workshop” and are fighting against deindustrialization and for better working conditions by going on wildcat strikes. Fan Shigang is taking his own risk to bring these stories to US audiences, motivated by a profound commitment to build international ties among workers.
