Over 10 months into the Gaza genocide, the lies and distortions of the corporate-controlled media have never been clearer, and so are their consequences. The U.S.-Israeli siege and bombardment has been sustained not just by ammunition and tanks, but by a whole media apparatus that validates their talking points and consistently demonizes Palestinians. Then they dress this up as “unbiased” reporting!
Join the BreakThrough News team for a discussion on people’s journalism, which is committed to the facts while unashamedly taking the side of the oppressed and those fighting for justice. That kind of journalism is already in motion. For almost a year, activists and students have served as their on-the-ground reporters from protests and encampments, while Palestinian journalists in Gaza have self-published the truths that the major networks are ignoring.
The event will consist of a special presentation from BT anchor Rania Khalek and small group workshops with BT videographers and reporters. Our workshops will cover the best practices for covering sites of struggle and getting your story out to the world. This event is part of BreakThrough Disrupters, our national grassroots media network that provides education, training, and connection to like-minded media makers. Journalism doesn’t belong in the Ivory Tower or to massive corporations — it’s in our hands.
