ABOUT THE SCHOOL
Overall U.S. household debt sits at a record-breaking $15 trillion—student debt broke $1.8. In South Korea, household debt is now equivalent to over 100% of GDP and has gone hand in hand with a dramatically widening income gap. In Lebanon from 2010 to 2020, the national debt has increased from 52.6 to 97.2 billion dollars.
Debt is a condition that binds the majority of the world’s population, yet the financial system is dependent on the narrative of individual responsibility and personal failure.
School of Debt @ TPF is a Fall & Winter program for individuals who are interested in developing their comprehension of Debt and its role in maintaining the concentration of wealth in the hands of the few, while the majority of the world suffers ongoing dispossession and economic precarity.
In this introductory course, students will collectively delve into the many ways Debt impacts life on an economical, political, and psychological level, as well as the way our debts permeate aspects of social life. We invite everyone; organizers, visionaries, and people who are hoping to connect individual lived experience to the broader struggle of our collective and oppressive debt conditions.
