Today, we received a letter from Congressman Jason Smith and the House Committee on Ways and Means targeting our organization for our work against genocide, defending immigrants, promoting international solidarity, and making political education accessible to tens of thousands of young organizers. This is a desperate attempt to silence our work and crush dissent. We will not be intimidated. This is not just an attack on The People’s Forum, but an assault on the fundamental rights of all people of conscience in the United States: the right to organize, the right to free speech, and the right to protest against injustice.
Their letter is a transparent smear campaign, which recycles false allegations in an attempt to target our solidarity with the people of Palestine and other oppressed communities. They accuse us of “chaos and disruption” for protesting against apartheid and oppression. We know the truth: they are afraid of the power of our unity and the consciousness that our movements are building.
These attacks are part of a broader, dangerous escalation against our movements and any act of dissent against the Trump administration. We are seeing a new wave of McCarthyism, where critics of U.S. foreign policy are labeled as foreign agents. But history teaches us a powerful lesson: efforts to silence dissent will ultimately backfire. We will not back down. We must stand together, now more than ever, to defend our right to speak out and organize.
We call on people of conscience everywhere to join us in this moment of struggle. Let us show them that we will not be divided or silenced. Our collective action is our greatest strength.
