Brittany Friedman is an Assistant Professor of Sociology and Faculty Affiliate of the Program in Criminal Justice at Rutgers University. Her research juxtaposes race and social inequality with incarceration conditions and politics. She is currently writing a book about the systematic use of extreme punishment against black militant prisoners and the rise of the Black Guerilla Family.
