Ecuador’s shift to the right shocked progressive movements across Latinamerica and the world. Current President Lenin Moreno, won under a platform and support of the Citizen’s Revolution led by Rafael Correa; but upon taking office, his government shifted dramatically to the right . Moreno made news with his decision to remove Julian Assange from the Ecuadorian embassy in London. But in Ecuador, his neoliberal policies of austerity and IMF’s recipes are taking the country to a political, social and economic crisis. Also underway, the same Lawfare playbook of brutal political prosecution of Rafael Correa and members of his administration.

The People’s Forum, with the support of La Coordinadora Migrante Eloy Alfaro will host a conversation about Ecuador’s forty years since its return to democracy, the Citizen’s Revolution and the current political and economic situation in the Andean country. Our main speaker will be Pabel Muñoz, a Parliamentarian of the Citizens Revolution Movement and former Minister of Planning and Development; he will be joined by Virgilio Hernandez, current chairman of the Movimiento Revolución Ciudadana.
