One event on March 13, 2019 at 7:00 pm
Wednesdays 2/6, 2/13, 2/20, and 3/13 from 7:00pm – 9:00pm
This four session seminar explores the political economy of racism with Professor Manu Karuka. We will work to denaturalize racism as something that needs to be explained, rather than accepted as a facet of social life. We will analyze race as a process and relationship internal to the capital relation itself. Through a study of the relationship between slavery and capitalism, Black working class cultures of struggle, and working class struggles against racism, we will sharpen our conception of materialist anti-racism.
