June 27 @ 6:30 pm

Join us every Thursday at the Paul and Eslanda Robeson Cinema at The People’s Forum, created in the spirit of their love of art, film and revolutionary culture.

No captures the advertising tactics in the political campaigns for the 1988 Chilean national plebiscite, when the citizenry decided whether or not dictator Augusto Pinochet should stay in power for another eight years. Alongside the Communist Party and other progressive forces, successful advertising creator René Saavedra proposed an unorthodox plan to promote a “no” vote to the Chilean public not through a negative protrayal of Pinochet’s crimes, but a positive protrayal of a Chile without Pinochet.
