The documentary was created by and centers the voices of Central Americans themselves and presents the precarious situation that Central American families had to suffer since 2014 as they emigrated to the United States.
In 2014, families who arrived requesting asylum at the US-Mexico border were arrested by immigration authorities and imprisoned in detention centers that are known to immigrants as the “coolers” due to the freezing low temperatures inside the facilities. These detention centers are considered inhuman. Children, women, and families who are imprisoned in this place do not have access to a dignified hygienic system, have endured sexual abuse by the authorities of these facilities, and a significant number of deaths have been reported due to the lack of medical attention.
Hundreds of people have been illegally arrested since then, and their stories are hidden by the media. “Eternos Indocumentados” provides the opportunity for their stories to be told.
