Join us for Cinema Sudania at The People’s Forum in NYC!
Cinema Sudania is a multi-day celebration of Sudanese art, culture, and history through film and community engagement. Our vision is to create an inclusive space for people to experience Sudanese cinema and storytelling while engaging in meaningful intergenerational conversations.
The 2025 screenings will explore the experience of Sudanese women as captured through Sudan’s contemporary film history. Sudanese cinema has always resisted, pushing through colonialism, censorship, and oppression, much like Sudanese women in society. Both have carried the weight of resilience, criticism, and change on their shoulders.Through curated screenings and moderated discussions, Cinema Sudania aims to showcase Sudanese women’s diversity, challenge harmful dominant narratives, and address Sudan’s history of state-sanctioned violence against women.
