BOOK TALK: SOCIALIST STATES AND THE ENVIRONMENT
September 21 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Please join us for an in-person conversation with author Salvatore Engel-Di Mauro on his book, Socialist States and the Environment: Lessons for Eco-Socialist Futures. With the current pushes for various Green New Deals, progressive politicians are seeking to find a solution for the climate crisis within the current global capitalist system. However, Engel-Di Mauro revisits and makes the case for examining the environmental practices and policies of socialist states–from the USSR to Cuba to China–in order to learn and create our own eco-socialist project. This event is co-sponsored by Pluto Press.
Salvatore Engel-Di Mauro Professor at the Geography Department of SUNY New Paltz. He is chief editor for the journal Capitalism Nature Socialism and co-founder, with Joel Kovel, of Ecosocialist Horizons, as well as the First Ecosocialist International in Veroes, Venezuela.
