BEGINNER FILIPINO LANGUAGE COURSE

WINTER/SPRING SESSION 2021!
Thursday evenings, 7-9 PM EDT from February 4th to April 8th 

Ever wanted to learn Filipino? Now is your chance to take a beginner’s course that will equip you with some basic knowledge of the national language of the Philippines. Whether you are of Filipino heritage, a student of languages, a researcher, a traveler, or just someone interested in learning a new language, this class is for you. Through this beginner’s course, not only will we be studying the language itself, but also the history of the Filipino people and the socio-cultural context that helped shape the national language. Join us on this journey!

  • This course will be conducted via Zoom every Thursday evening, 7-9 pm EST for ten sessions beginning February 4th for a total of 20 hours of instruction
  • Includes in-class activities, homework assignments, and exams
  • Historical and cultural perspectives are incorporated into the language learning process
  • The instructor, Mike Legaspi is a Filipino community organizer and language instructor who strives to develop culturally relevant, pro-people, and anti-imperialist education (full bio here)
