He currently manages the studio and workshops for Frontline Arts in Branchburg\, NJ. \nOne of Many artists\, Peter and Hamzah\, create fashion\, art\, and music as a way to drive positive change in the world. Elon Musk has just become the world’s first trillionaire\, a reality that is impossible to grasp as millions of people are struggling simply to survive. This year\, capitalism’s destructive\, dead-end logic has been on full display—from Trump’s escalating assaults on Cuba and Venezuela to his losing war with Iran—all paid for by working-class families across the world already drowning in a worsening cost-of-living crisis. But this year we’ve also seen the general strike movement resurge for the first time in decades\, communities stand up in defense of immigrant families all across the country in the face of ICE terror\, and openly socialist candidates sweeping elections across New York City\, the center of global capitalism. These are not anomalies\, but the direct result of a system in crisis that is forcing a rising tide in consciousness within the belly of the beast\, as people look for an alternative against the existential threat of capitalism.  \nThat alternative is socialism\, and people are ready for it. And we have at our disposal all the means for making it an immediate actuality. But how? How do we assess and learn from the movements of the past\, in all its defeats and victories\, to build the future right now? Just like the ruling class has its tools to maintain its power\, we have our own to organize and fight back. The session will start with a warm-up before introducing foundational steps. We’ll build to a combination\, and practice circle drills to play with the levels\, speed\, and the direction of each movement. Everyone is encouraged to bring their own style to the workshop\, no experience needed! \nWear sneakers and clothes you can move in. \n__ \nBorn and raised in Mexico\, Bajonero started dancing at age three and developed a love for the fine arts. When she was nine\, Bajonero moved to Dallas\, TX\, where she honed in on performing and working closely with Artisan Center Theatre. \nLater she moved to New York City to develop her craft at The New York Conservatory For The Dramatic Arts were she majored in Musical Theatre (May of 2021) . By the summer of 2021\, Bajonero began dancing with Katharine Pettit Creative\, focusing on socio-political issues through movement. As of recent\, they trained closely with Ladies of Hip-hop in Ladies in Training. \nA dance teaching artist by day\, performer by night… and even a photographer in her free time.

After a technical demonstration\, the session will focus on stitchmaking as a form of storytelling. Participants are invited to embroider an image from memory\, drawing\, printed photograph\, or from the stencils provided. The workshop will culminate with learning how to mount your stitched images onto a textile of your choice. \nParticipants are welcome to bring photographs or sketches of their own to use as personal stencils. Examples: doors\, profile of a face\, flower. \nAll materials will be provided\, including the option to stitch on a tote or patch. \n__ \nNicole\, a native of Alexandria\, Virginia has been sewing since she was 12 years old. She made both of her high school prom dresses\, both being original and adapted designs. She studied fashion merchandising in college and went on to work as a visual merchandising coordinator and stylist for 10 years in home furnishings and fashion apparel. Once given the opportunity to follow her dreams in 2020\, has been working in the costume/wardrobe industry in NYC for the last 3 years and has worked on and off Broadway from American Ballet Theatre to &Juliet at The Stephen Sondheim Theater. The Bed Stuy Brooklyn neighborhood is where the heart of her work has begun to flourish. She teaches and volunteers with local non-profit organization Black Girls Sew\, where mentor and founder/creator\, Hekima Hapa leads classes and students through cut n sew fashion projects and field trips to experience and learn from the world around them.

Participants will learn several techniques (collagraph\, charcoal transfer and image transfer) to make and take home one-of-a-kind prints on paper. Students will explore layering\, texture\, and composition through hands-on experimentation. Beginner friendly\, no experience needed. All materials are provided. \n__ \nKaili Woop is a multimedia artist and designer based in Astoria\, Queens\, working across printmaking and wearable art. She is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and a 2023 recipient of the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Award and the SUNY Chancellor Award. Her work has been exhibited at The Museum at FIT\, The Alpha Workshops Gallery\, and US+U Gallery. Woop has over three years of experience teaching hands on printmaking workshops with organizations including Oolite Arts\, Wynwood Walls\, US+U Gallery\, Yonkers Arts\, and Queens Collaborative. She is currently focused on developing a wearable art and design brand using traditional printmaking techniques for clothing and accessories.

No previous experience necessary! \n____ \nJohn Kudos and David Jon Walker are cofounders of WeType and partners at KASA Collective. SUMMARY:BOOK TALK | Motown & The Making of Working-Class Revolutionaries with Jerome Scott and Walda Katz-Fishman
DESCRIPTION:An inside look at how the experiences of Black workers created lifelong revolutionaries \nMotown and the Making of Working-Class Revolutionaries offers a fresh perspective on class\, race\, and revolution in the United States. Drawing on more than forty hours of interviews with former members of the League of Revolutionary Black Workers\, Scott and Katz-Fishman share the rich story of the League\, including the women and students. That story includes the history of the automotive industry in Detroit\, the 1967 Detroit Rebellion\, and the wildcat strike that sparked the Dodge Revolutionary Union Movement (DRUM). The authors describe the rise of the League from 1968 to 1971. They explore the centrality of struggle and political education as the League split and a section of League comrades moved into revolutionary organizations and social movement spaces\, many of which remain active today. League comrades share their analysis of the current moment and staying the course of revolutionary struggle. \n\nJerome Scott\, a former labor organizer in the Detroit auto plants in the 1960s-70s and a founding member of the League of Revolutionary Black Workers\, was the founding director of Project South: Institute for the Elimination of Poverty & Genocide. He is a political educator in movement and labor organizations in the South and nationally\, and a contributing author/co-author to political education toolkits and numerous articles on the capitalist crisis\, the digital and AI technological revolution\, and class\, race\, and the revolutionary process. He was co-recipient of the American Sociological Association 2004 Award for the Public Understanding of Sociology\, is a board member of the General Baker Institute\, and is a member of the League of Revolutionaries for a New America. \nWalda Katz-Fishman\, a scholar activist and professor emerita of sociology at Howard University\, was a founding member of Project South: Institute for the Elimination of Poverty & Genocide. She facilitates political education in academic and movement spaces and is a contributing author/co-author and editor of popular education toolkits and numerous chapters and articles on the global capitalist crisis\, the AI/digital revolution\, class\, race and gender\, and revolutionary transformation. Together\, we’ll gather inspiration from collage artists who have created intentional Agitprop and then be provided with prompts and materials to create their own. \nSession theme: Black August \n__ \nAshley Marie Lagrange\, (They/Them) is a therapist\, coach\, and collage artist born\, raised and currently residing in Queens\, New York to a multigenerational household Dominican l household. Ashley works in the day as a politicized therapist and coach for the QTBIPOC population which stemmed from their lived experience with madness and grassroots peer support organizing. Ashley is also a Collage Artist\, having taught and facilitated various classes and workshop spaces on the analog art form. Ashley is a member of DegrowNYC and previously sat as their Propaganda Chair.
