DESCRIPTION:In October 1972\, nine Black men and one white woman were wrongfully convicted of arson and conspiracy and sentenced by the North Carolina state court to 282 collective years in prison. An international cause célèbre\, the so-called Wilmington 10 languished for nearly a decade in separate jails\, even as journalists and lawyers exposed criminal wrongdoing in the State’s case; religious leaders\, politicians\, and activists demanded their release and exoneration; and the Soviet Union brandished their photos as a symbol of American hypocrisy and racism. In his brilliant reckoning\, Gerima invokes the Wilmington Massacre of 1898 and the legacies of slavery and Jim Crow in lynchings\, poverty\, and segregation; in the shuttering of a successful Black high school and a subsequent boycott led by the Reverend Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis Jr.; in street violence and riots instigated by white supremacists; and in the mysterious firebombing of a White-owned grocery store. \nGerima observes\, “Through photographs\, documentation of other cases\, knowledge of the vast number of Black males incurring severe sentences for rape and other unjust convictions\, the Hurricane Carters\, the George Jacksons\, the Ruchell Magees\, and other millions of nameless\, faceless political prisoners in the country’s system are all shown to be linked to the same struggle—all victims of racist and political oppression. The volunteer training will cover basic rights when inateracting with ICE and other law enforcement and how to stay safe\, organized\, and effective before\, during\, and after accompaniment. \n🔗 RSVP now at the link in bio and get involved! \nℹ️ New York City\, home to one of the largest and most diverse immigrant populations in the country\, now leads the nation in ICE courthouse abductions. Due to the city’s robust networks of unions\, community organizations\, and immigrant-led groups\, it is also a key location to establish defense and solidarity that can set national precedents for sanctuary and collective protection. \n📝Become part of the volunteer network to support immigrants at court hearings and ICE/ISAP check-ins in New York City. This work responds to escalating federal enforcement targeting immigrant communities through raids\, detention\, and courthouse arrests. \n‼️ Volunteers accompany community members through these high-risk appointments to provide a calm\, supportive presence\, follow safety protocols\, and stay in contact with the coordination team. Volunteers should be U.S. citizens or non-citizens who understand the risks and have morning availability (usually 7:00–11:00 a.m.). SUMMARY:CLASS: The Army That Turned on the War: GI Resistance in Vietnam

We oppose the criminal waste of American lives and resources. We refuse to go to Vietnam!!!!!!” – Fort Hood Three  \nWhen soldiers in Vietnam began refusing combat orders\, organizing underground anti-war newspapers\, and taking action against their officers\, the U.S. military faced an army in rebellion against the war itself. This class examines the massive GI resistance movement that emerged within the ranks during the Vietnam War\, from individual acts of defiance to organized mutinies\, antiwar coffeehouses near military bases\, and networks of active-duty soldiers who saw themselves not as heroes but as war criminals being ordered to commit atrocities. We’ll explore how this internal revolt\, spanning all branches of service and crossing lines of race and rank\, helped force an end to the war and why the military establishment has worked so hard to erase this history of soldiers who chose conscience over orders. \nINSTRUCTOR: Mike Prysner is an Iraq war veteran turned anti-war organizer\, working with U.S. service members. As a producer & director for Empire Files he has created a body of anti-imperialist films\, podcasts and educational materials (most recently Earth’s Greatest Enemy). DESCRIPTION:Methadone is the gold standard for treating opioid addiction. It is a life-saving medication. But the current\, outdated system for obtaining it–the methadone clinic system– is punitive\, unjust\, and humiliating. In the midst of an ongoing opioid overdose crisis\, it’s easier to get fentanyl on the street than it is to get methadone from a clinic. This live panel of experts will unpack the carceral and racist history of methadone. Panelists will discuss how siloed clinics are a creation of the War on Drugs\, expose the role of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the culture of cruelty\, and explain how methadone is harm reduction but the system that controls access to it is harm production. DESCRIPTION:This Thursday at 6:30pm\, join us for the opening of Let Cuba Live\, an exhibition bringing together artists who raise their voices in solidarity with the Cuban people at a critical moment. \nAt the heart of the exhibition is Primero de Mayo\, a handmade tapestry by Tabitha K Arnold depicting the extraordinary International Workers’ Day commemorations in Havana. The exhibition also features original screenprints by other artists\, to be announced. \nThese works speak to a moment that demands action. For over 65 years\, the U.S. government has strangled Cuba’s economy with a brutal blockade\, but in the last month\, Trump has gone further to prevent Cuba from importing oil. This genocidal oil blockade will be measured in human suffering: families without power\, hospitals facing impossible choices\, children\, the elderly\, and the sick bearing the brunt of a policy that can only be described as economic warfare. \nIn moments like these\, artists take up the call: building solidarity\, demanding justice\, and affirming the humanity and resilience of the Cuban people. March 6th\, we’re excited to welcome deerlady to the TPF stage. Their work carries a rare depth and urgency\, and it’s an honor to host artists whose sound and vision feel so essential to this moment. \nDeerlady is an experimental rock band led by Odanak First Nation artist Mali Obomsawin with a rotating collective of band members. Their debut album Greatest Hits (2024) was praised by Sterogum\, KEXP and NPR for its lyricism and immense soundscapes. Welcome to Spanish for Social Justice! \nAlgarabía Language Co-op is excited to announce that we are offering virtual Spanish classes this spring! \nAlgarabía Language Co-op offers Spanish for Social Justice courses in partnership with The People’s Forum. We offer classes at the beginner\, intermediate\, and advanced levels of fluency for those interested in topics related to social justice\, politics\, and culture. Through weekly social justice themes and using a communicative and popular education approach\, participants will improve their Spanish skills and critically engage with various cultural productions centered around the lived experiences of working-class people of Indigenous and African descent on the continent. These courses are designed for folks at different levels of fluency in their productive (speaking\, writing) and receptive (listening and reading) skills. His work\, based in a documentary genre\, focuses primarily on issues of displacement\, dispossession\, and disinheritance. He currently manages the studio and workshops for Frontline Arts in Branchburg\, NJ.

They’re a Los Angeles-born and Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter-producer\, and a recovering jack of all trades. daisy\, Leilani’s latest EP was not released on streaming as a protest against unfair wages for artists\, AI integration and lack of regulation\, and the streaming model no longer aligning with their morals. With CEOs treating our art and our livelihoods as data to be traded\, AI contributing to the destruction of our planet and the commodification of art\, and any money made seeming to still end up funding genocide and systemic oppression\, filling the pockets of those who Leilani speaks against\, they wanted out. This release is just as much of an experiment of sound as it is an experiment of sharing this music. \nViolet Stanza is a singer/songwriter whose writing ranges from pop bangers to tender ballads. Her music has earned several accolades\, winning both BroadwayWorld’s Best Original Song\, and the Goethe Institut’s International Music Contest. Violet can be found performing around New York\, or online where her content has amassed over 800 thousand followers across platforms. She hopes to empower other queer and trans people through her art\, and make the world a prettier place along the way. \nZoe Firn has a song for every mood. Wielding a guitar\, her voice\, and sometimes a violin\, Zoe crafts earthy alt-rock tunes that “you’ll want to take home in your pocket” (according to Molly Murphy) and lyrics that “hit harder than a Mack truck” (according to Radio Free Brooklyn). She aims to connect with listeners\, whether it’s an audience of 1 through a pair of headphones\, a handful of friends in the back of a bar\, or over 100 on a particularly celebratory night. Zoe’s debut album “Atomic Force” was released in October 2025 on Bandcamp/CDs then in December 2025 on all streaming sites excluding Spotify. And she hopes the songs stick with you long after the first listen. \nTHE DRIPS are a new BK based Indie band that fuses together a gnarly potion of folk\, pop\, & punk-rock. The coven is made up of Déa\, Aspen\, and Caro\, who met on a moonlit night in a Dunkin-donuts parking lot. Their hex-proof cauldron is specially brewed to connect queer comrades far and wide. Transvolution\, the band’s debut album\, is available in physical form\, as well as anywhere where artist wages are ethical and AI is prohibited. \n\nAristilde Kirby is a poet & performance artist from the Bronx living in Brooklyn. She has written the book Daisy & Catherine Squared (Auric Press\, 2022) & the chapbook Sonnet Infinitésimal / Material Girl (Best American Experimental Writing\, 2020). She is writing a couple of books riffing off ideas of math.

Originally from the Los Angeles area\, he studied painting there before moving to Germany\, where he lived for 10 years. Co-facilitated by Daniel Drennan ElAwar and Francesca Barr. \n__ \nDaniel Drennan ElAwar is an illustrator\, printmaker\, fiber artist\, and educator. His work\, based in a documentary genre\, focuses primarily on issues of displacement\, dispossession\, and disinheritance. His research and practice concerning decolonization and resistance led to the founding in 2009 of a Beirut-based artists’ collective\, ‎جمع اليد (Jamaa Al-Yad). He currently manages the studio and workshops for Frontline Arts in Branchburg\, NJ. \nFrancesca Barr is a working artist and writer from Massachusetts. She loves screenprint for the physical labor it demands\, and for its value in movement-making past\, present\, and future.

DESCRIPTION:The artist must take sides. He must elect to fight for freedom or for slavery. I have made my choice. I had no alternative.” — Paul Robeson \nIn times of war and crisis\, when people are rising up\, when people are taking a stand\, when the stakes could not be higher– what is the responsibility of the artist? \nHistory points us to the answer. Culture is the heartbeat of our movements. It brings people into collective action\, sharpens our sense of our own power\, and makes a better future feel possible. But the ruling elites also use culture to flood our screens with art that makes the current crisis feel natural\, inevitable\, and permanent. Artists on the side of freedom have to fight back. Nina Simone\, Langston Hughes\, June Jordan\, Elizabeth Catlett\, and Paul Robeson all took a side. The muralists of the Chicano Movement took a side. Hip-hop artists and those speaking out on stages\, screens\, studio walls\, and the streets today take a side. Now\, we as artists have to consider what that looks like in today’s context. \nIn this course presented by Artists Against Apartheid & The People’s Forum\, we will study the role of the artist in the movement. We will discuss the responsibility of artists to struggle against the system that exploits\, alienates\, and pacifies and towards building a culture that inspires\, drives\, and sustains our collective struggle for liberation.
