In this collective reading and discussion session, we will look at the historical context in which the Combahee River Collective was formed, as well as its role in the development of Radical Black Feminist Tradition. Participants will discuss the radical tenets of their 1977 statement, the role of identity politics, specifically, looking at the term’s origin, and how it is used today. We will discuss their work and legacy and their lessons for the feminist movement today.
