Health work has historically been used as a tool to organize the masses not only in NYC but across people’s struggles around the world. This series is grounded in healthcare practices that came out of socialist movements, with the intention of empowering lay people and organizers with the tools to take care of their communities, especially folks who have had difficulty getting access to healthcare.
Part 1: HISTORY OF REVOLUTIONARY HEALTH WORK [VIRTUAL]

The first part of the series provides a political overview of revolutionary healthcare. This includes a history of healthcare in the U.S., revolutionary origins of pre-hospital care, and practices that are beneficial to folks involved in organizing. We’ll look at examples of revolutionary healthcare around the world, like the Cuban Revolution and Chinese Revolution.
Part 2: BASIC CPR, FIRST AID, LIFE SUPPORT CERTIFICATION COURSE [SOLD OUT – IN-PERSON ONLY]
May 28, 10a – 1p ET OR
June 4, 10a – 1p ET
The second part of the series is an in-person practicum session for attendees to learn and practice crucial life saving practices. This includes identifying and treating opioid overdose, wounds, injuries and many other crucial tactics. We are offering this on two Saturdays, choose the date that works for you.

The sliding scale ranges from $28- $115, the lowest cost covers the cost of the book and certification card from the American Heart Association, anything above that helps to provide Raphael with a way to focus more energy on organizing both towards Puerto Rico and community health education work here, as well as to cover the material costs for folks who can’t afford the $28.
