Join us to the launch of  “Presencia Terror”
an audiovisual focused on documenting a small part of the work of Luis “El Terror” Días, one of the most influential artists in Dominican arts of the 20th century 

December 8th, 2019 marked 10 years since the physical departure of Luis “El Terror” Días, one of the most influential artists in Dominican arts of the 20th century. For this reason, in New York City, a city that has been at the forefront in keeping the legacy of El Terror present, three recording sessions were held on December 8, 9 and 16 with the participation of 14 groups and/or individual artists “Presencia Terror” was conceived. The production was carried out by Lliam Greguez, Reynaldo García Pantaleón and Alex Guerra. Being captured 13 songs and a poem from the book “Transito entre Guácaras” by Luis Terror Días.

The visual audio focused on documenting a small part of the work of the great Dominican iconoclast. With that spirit of presence and commemorating the artist’s birthday, The People’s Forum institution that seeks to amplify the voices of the oppressed peoples of the world in the North American city announces the launch of this material on Sunday June 21, 2020. On this day, we will also have conversations with some of the producers involved in the process. 

This digital work was carried out with the approval of the Díaz family in the person of Mari Díaz and Francis Díaz, descendants of Luis.

About Luis “El Terror” Días (1952-2009)

Musician, composer, writer, poet, and performer of Dominican popular music. Born in a family of traditional musicians, is one of the most important and influential artists of the Dominican Republic during the 20th century. As a researcher, composer, and extraordinary guitar player, he interpreted and mastered native rhythms and international styles such as blues, jazz, punk, folk, nueva canción, and rock. He explored almost all of the Dominican musical forms. Creating techno-amargue or techno-bachata, as well as a rock style with a distinctive Dominican flavor.  While living in New York City for over fifteen years, he produced music for various artists and created two albums of his own and one in collaboration with Lliam Greguez.  His influences can be felt in all of the artistic manifestations of his nation.


Acompáñanos al lanzamiento de “Presencia Terror”
un audiovisual enfocado en documentar una pequeña parte de la obra de Luis “El Terror” Días, uno de los artistas más influyentes en las artes dominicanas del siglo XX

El pasado 8 de diciembre del año 2019 se cumplieron 10 años de la partida física de Luis Terror Días, uno de los artistas más influyentes en las artes dominicanas del siglo XX. Por tal motivo, en la ciudad de Nueva York, urbe que ha estado a la vanguardia en mantener el legado de El Terror presente, se realizaron tres sesiones de grabación los días 8, 9 y 16 de diciembre con la participación de 14 grupos y/o artistas individuales se gestó “Presencia Terror”.

La producción corrió a cargo de Lliam Greguez, Reynaldo García Pantaleón y Alex Guerra. Siendo capturadas 13 canciones y un poema del libro “Transito entre Guácaras de Luis Terror Días. El audio visual enfocado en documentar una pequeña parte de la obra del gran iconoclasta dominicano. Con ese espíritu de presencia y conmemorando el natalicio del artista, The People’s Forum institución que busca amplificar las voces de los pueblos oprimidos del mundo en la ciudad norteamericana anuncia el lanzamiento de este material el próximo domingo 21 de junio del 2020. Este día, también contaremos con la presencia de algunos de los productores involucrados en el proceso de grabación. 

Esta obra digital fue realizada con la aprobación de la familia Díaz en la persona de Mari Díaz y Francis Díaz, descendientes de Luis.

Sobre Luis “El Terror” Días (1952-2009)

Músico, compositor, escritor, poeta e intérprete de música popular dominicana. Hijo de padres músicos tradicionales, es uno de los artistas más importantes e influyentes de la República Dominicana del siglo XX. Se expresó en casi todas las formas musicales dominicanas, no solamente como investigador sino también como compositor. Fué, además, un guitarrista excelso, interprete y conocedor de los ritmos autóctonos y de estilos internacionales tales como el blues, jazz, punk, folk, nueva canción  y rock.  Creó el tecno-amargue o tecno-bachata, así como un rock de acento marcadamente dominicano. Vivió en la ciudad de Nueva York por más de quince años, donde produjo música para diversos artistas y creó dos álbumes personales y uno en colaboración con Lliam Greguez. Sus influencias se pueden sentir en todas las manifestaciones artísticas de la media-isla.
