MARIUM MAJID
I am an artist with a specialized focus on henna body art, multi-media painting (acrylic/watercolor/ink), street art, and textile installations. As a Pakistani-American, I embody numerous and often times conflicting identities either by chance or choice. I’ve spent much of my life here in America rejecting my foreignness and through my art have only recently been able to realize both the importance and beauty of recognizing my heritage, religion, and cultural background. I started doodling with a henna cone at a very young age and through the years have fallen in love the ancient practice. Through its symbolism, it is regarded as a blessing and applied for good luck/ protection. It is also a way of celebrating of joy and beauty. It is It is my greatest pleasure to share this part of myself with you all.
