Alicia Kuhl is the President of the Santa Cruz Homeless Union. She lives in her RV with her three children and works full time, although she is currently not working due to the coronavirus pandemic. Alicia was, alongside Deseire Quintero, a principal organizer of the Ross Camp Council, a committee representing some three hundred residents of the city’s largest homeless encampment. When the city moved to destroy Ross Camp, Alicia led a dramatic legal challenge and a two-day hearing in federal district court. Although the camp was ultimately cleared, the Union emerged stronger than ever and today, collaborating with Santa Cruz Food Not Bombs, is providing life-saving support against the pandemic.
